Spring has officially sprung and in true new life, new chapter, new beginning fashion we introduce The Baby Bag, perfectly timed to coincide with the exciting arrival of our Founder India’s very own baby.
London Velvet was born from a lack of high quality, functional and stylish luggage, bags and accessories that stood the test of time. So having struggled to find a baby bag that met the mark, (and having been badgered by customers for years to refashion our bestselling tote for carrying around tiny human essentials), India’s design mind entered the parenting zone.
Tell us more? Her goal was to create a baby bag that didn’t look like… a baby bag, i.e., something with mileage well beyond the baby phase, but whose pouches, pockets and structure sang to parents trying to fit bottles, wipes, lotions, (as well as their own belongings) into one sturdy, stylish bag.
How does it look? The same size as our Oversized Tote and Beach Bag, with the same external tooling, the Baby Bag is as stylish as any other London Velvet bags and accessories. Two colourways – cornflower blue corduroy with sunny orange touches or deep raspberry pink with green accents – comfortingly far removed from the classic baby bag prints or lacklustre greys. We’ve thought long and hard about the personalisation aspect, with detachable hanging leather letters (not sewn) to allow for new sibling arrivals.
And the clever parts? Where to begin: bottles slip into x3 elastic pockets; a matching leather-trim pouch sits inside for pulling out smaller items such as creams, dummies and teething toys, or for keeping the parents’ valuables separate. The chicest changing mat with one corduroy side to match the tote and pouch, and the other waterproof and wipe-clean. The zipped pocket stretching the full width of the bag is a smart touch for those extras you need easy access to, while the entire inside is waterproof as insurance for any spillages. And detachable pram straps make it perfect for every stage of parenthood.
The best part? Changing mat aside, this is the incognito baby bag that will last a lifetime.
